Vrijplaats Brugge, managed by CGSO, officially opened its doors in April 2024. It aims to be a low-threshold, accessible space for small organizations and associations in the city that need a meeting place, but primarily profiles itself as a connection point for the local LGBTQI+ associations and community. There is an open bar two weeks per month. This allows people to drop by during opening hours for a chat, a drink, and a snack. Vrijplaats Brugge aims to be a lively and bustling place where everyone can meet, where interesting lectures and workshops are regularly given, and where numerous activities can take place within the associative life. This is always with a focus on a safe space for the LGBTQI+ community and beyond. The city’s Diversity Department supports, promotes, and monitors the operation and also organizes occasional activities around specific LGBTQI+ topics.
