The “Rainbow City Kids” specialist office, which is funded by the city of Heidelberg, is committed to promoting the acceptance of sexual and gender diversity in all areas of children and young people’s lives. It provides prevention services for Heidelberg schools, youth centers, youth associations and daycare centers. It teaches argumentation and action skills in open youth work and provides methods, literature and information material for professionals. It initiates and advises group activities at Heidelberg schools in order to offer queer pupils safer spaces where they can experience acceptance and support. It organizes the “Queer Youth Heidelberg” youth group as well as public campaigns and events for the visibility of sexual and gender acceptance in cooperation with other prevention and anti-discrimination initiatives.
