Reykjavík’s Rainbow Certification program continues to be very popular and there is now a waiting list to start the process to become Rainbow Certified. The program was originally launched in early 2020 and it’s goal is to combat and prevent all discrimination against the queer community. It is open to all city workplaces and provides them with training and workshops, brochures and other material with the goal of implementing long term changes where needed. All kinds of workplaces have now received a Rainbow Certification, such as most of the swimming pools, all youth centers and after school care facilities, some administrative offices, schools and welfare services. There are queer people everywhere in Reykjavík, whether they are residents, employees, guests or tourists. The goal is to make sure that all queer people, wherever they are in the city, feel welcome.
