The more children and teenagers do not conform to the norms of their assigned gender, the more likely it is that they will experience marginalisation and violence at school. This makes it necessary for schools to make sure that trans children are recognised and respectfully supported in their gender identity. In 2024, the city of Zurich developed a leaflet on this topic in collaboration with the cities of Bern and Lucerne. It gives school professionals specific tips on how they can support trans minors well.
