What a joyful event: The Viennese Anti-Discrimination Unit for LGBTIQ Affairs (WASt) celebrated its 25th anniversary by holding a conference and giving a reception. Both events took place on IDAHOBIT and in the famous Viennese City Hall. The Vice Mayor and the City Counsellor in representation of the Mayor welcomed the participants of the conference, which intended to give an overview on the past 25 years’ work. Lectures about the history of the LGBTIQ movement in Vienna and about of the unit itself were the first schedules of the program, that continued by looking at all the different topics and work the team of WASt, e.g. lectures within the administration and schools, anti-discriminatory counselling, working with NGOs and politics or founding projects. Later in the evening the Viennese LGBTIQ community, colleagues from the city administration and various other institutions were invited to a reception, which was opened by the director of the city’s administration.
