Wiesbaden
Description of the city
Wiesbaden is a green city in the heart of the Rhine-Main-region, and an economic, cultural and social centre. Young and old are at home there, as are families, couples, and singles. The Hessian state capital attracts with a great variety of leisure time activities, and provides a perfect setting for making the city a home base for life. Modern urban development, protection of the environment, and the preservation of nature and health services are further strengths of this city. By the end of 2020, Wiesbaden has a population of 291,160 inhabitants.
Goal
The City of Wiesbaden aims a non-discriminatory and LGBT-friendly urban society that appreciates diversity as a great good.
Policy
In order to support LGBT*IQ activities and to promote the cooperation of queer community, politics and city administration, the City of Wiesbaden set up a municipal LGBT*IQ Coordination Office and a Round Table “LGBT*IQ in Wiesbaden”. The quarterly meetings of the Round Table are organised by the LGBT*IQ Coordination Office. The representatives work on several topics concerning the queer community in Wiesbaden.
The main tasks of the LGBT*IQ Coordination Office are:
- Supporting the LGBT*IQ community
- Promoting public acceptance of LGBT*IQ
- Promoting a queer-friendly city administration
- Counselling for municipal employees and citizens

Collaboration partners
There is a close collaboration with almost all groups and NGOs in the city. Most LGBT*IQ groups and NGO’s concerned with LGBT*IQ affairs are permanent participants of the Round Table. The LGBT*IQ Coordination Office is well known for providing support and a good network.
