Cork City believes strongly in the value of networking and working for change toward equality and inclusion and learning from municipalities globally. As well as our active participation in the Rainbow Cities Network we are engaged in many such opportunities to learn and share from other cities.
This September the city will welcome members of a coalition group called ‘Marriage for All Korea’
The Korean delegation are interested in learning about Ireland’s transition from a conservative to open and liberal society, legally and socially. In Cork they will meet with LGBT / marriage equality activists, Cork Pride Festival, reps on International Rainbow Cities Network and other Council supported LGBT+ Initiatives in the city.
In November 2024 Cork City Council will host an International Conference : Cities of Welcome: Connecting New European Communities in partnership with Cork’s twin cities Cologne ( also a member of the RCN) and Rennes to discuss the shared challenges people face as newcomer and minority communities within the European Union.
