A growing number of studies show that LGBTIQ+ people are particularly impacted by growing social inequalities caused by climate change. However, they are noticeably ignored by sustainability programs, such as the 17 goals of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations.

Following the framework of leaving no one behind, the City of Geneva 2024 campaign recalled the inclusiveness of LGBTIQ+ people as a pre requisite for building a sustainable society. It explored how these populations, with a significant history of struggle and resilience, are a source of innovative solutions in the face of the collective challenges of our time. This reflection will be continued in the future in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme, ILGA World and other organisations based in Geneva.
