Visibility and celebration of queer Oslo will raise awareness of gender and sexual diversity among the general public in Oslo.

Many people in Oslo do not define themselves within the two-gender model. The City of Oslo will integrate more inclusive language into the municipality’s language profile and implement gender-neutral toilet signs in its signage programme. This means that the City of Oslo will strive to move beyond the limitations of the traditional two-gender model whenever possible. The feasibility of gender-neutral toilets and changing rooms will be evaluated when planning new buildings or renovating existing municipal facilities.

The focus area also addresses the visibility of “Queer Oslo” in the cityscape, cultural and business sectors, and public discussions on gender and sexual diversity. Queer art and culture play a central role in preserving and maintaining queer history and identity.
